One of the terror suspects wanted by the police has been arrested. By Press time Sunday details were still scanty.
Deputy police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba last evening confirmed the development and only identified the suspect as Hussein. “He has only been identified as Hussein,” she said.
It is not clear where and when he was arrested from or where he could be held. The arrest came as police circulated photographs of two international terrorists believed to have sneaked in the country as part of a heightened hunt for the suspects.
Police released the pictures of Ahmed Khaled Andreas Martin Muller and Emrah Erdogan Alias Imraan AL-Kurdy Alias Salahaddin AL-Kurdy, foreign fighters of the International terror group Al-Qeada but reinforcing the Somalia based Al-Shabaab outfit.
Whereas Muller is of German nationality AL-Kurdy, 24 is a German of Turkish origin. Both are on the international wanted list. The photographs of the two men suspected to have slipped into the country from Kenya were released on Saturday.
The by the weekend was hunting for three suspected terrorists; given that one suspect whose identity was never disclosed reportedly sneaked into the country earlier on board a Kalita bus from Kenya.
In an interview on Saturday Police Counter Terrorism boss John Ndugutse called for vigilance from the public. “People should be vigilant and report any suspicious people in the communities. Whoever has information should volunteer it to police because it is the only way we can neutralize these people (terrorists),” he was quoted as saying then.
It is suspected that Muller could be travelling with his 33 year old wife, Kriya Mohamed Hafos Adem, a Somali national born in Eritrea and their six year old daughter, Nusibra Hadiyah Muller.
The two terrorists are said to have sneaked into Kenya from Somalia and then exited.
