Friday January 09, 2009 (HOL) -  Large number of Ethiopian transport vehicles headed to Mogadishu has been seen going through the town of Afgoye which is situated 30 KM south of Mogadishu, according to eyewitnesses.

Reports say that the Ethiopian transport vehicles are going to Mogadishu to transport Ethiopian troops from the city. The arrival of the transport vehicles comes at a time when there have been recent reports saying that Ethiopian troops are withdrawing from Somalia, particularly Mogadishu.

An Ethiopian General who commands Ethiopian troops stationed in Somalia’s former Ministry of Defence said yesterday that Ethiopian troops are withdrawing from Somalia and the only thing they are waiting for is an order to do so. The General, named Mr. Automatic, said that their withdrawal is part of  the Djibouti Accord and that they are always in support of the Somali people.

Furthermore, chair of the joint Security Committee of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) Col. Hussein Siyad Qoor-gaap said recently that Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu are in the final preparation of their withdrawal from Somalia and warned against the temptation to occupy the buildings and areas they vacate after they withdraw.
