The Oslo Magistrate's Court has ruled that a man arrested by the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) on Thursday, suspected of having financed terrorism abroad, will remain in police custody for four weeks.

Two others arrested at the same time, were released, but charges are upheld, and they will not be allowed to leave the country.

The three men, all of Somali background, are suspected of having transferred funds to Somalia through the so-called Hawala system, money the the police believe has been used to finance terrorist groups inside Somalia.

However, many in the Norwegian Somali community claim that many of them support freedom fighters who they say are fighting what they call Ethiopian occupants inside Somalia, and that these freedom fighters are not terrorist groups.
