Six die of starvation and thirst in Galmudug

Dhusamareb (HOL) - Reports from the Mudug and Galgadud regions of Galmudug State say that there is a severe drought that has killed people due to hunger and thirst.

Ahmed Mohamed Shire, the deputy governor of the Mudug region for Galmudug state, told the media that six people have died of starvation and thirst due to the severe drought in Galmudug state. 

He added that the people affected by the drought had lost most of their livestock, in addition to various diseases, including malnutrition. 

Galkayo has seen a sharp rise in the number of people fleeing drought-stricken rural areas in recent days, with some settling in with their families.

Galmudug administration says it is making water trucking efforts for the people affected by the severe drought in Mudug and Galgadud regions. 

Drought in some parts of Somalia appears to be intensifying in most parts of the country.
