GALKAYO (HOL) - A 12-year-old girl in Galkayo in central Somalia was brutally raped and killed barely 24 hours after she went missing.
Aisha Ilyas Adan's mutilated body was found near her house after she went missing.
Speaking to VOA, the mayor of Northern Galkayo, Yasin Abdi said that the body of the girl was dumped few meters away from her home. He added that girl was sexually assaulted .
The mayor noted that the security forces arrested suspects in connection with the killing of the girl.
Galkayo residents are not strangers to violence, but the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder have left many people in utter disbelief.
