It is not yet known if Somali intelligence chief General Bashir Mohamed Jama has escaped unhurt, however a soldier of the Somali Army along with a civilian were casualties in the blast aimed at killing the Security Intelligence Chief. The blast rocked the entrance gate of Mogadishu's city Palace hotel on Friday evening.
Eye witnesses claim that a bomb went off as the National Security and Intelligence Agency (NSIA) director General Bashir Mohameed Jama was leaving the hotel.
The attack comes several hours after the security chief told the media that reliable information gathered by the country’s secret service warned of possible Al Shabab attacks, in the capital during the upcoming holly Month of Ramadan.
It is not immediately known if there are any more human casualties caused by the huge blast which could be heard throughout the capital, but HOL is flowing and will report any developments about the attack.
