Authorities of the semiautonomous regional state of Himan and Heeb said they have rescued 15 children who were snatched from their families by two men adding that the two abductors have been placed under arrest.
The regional state minister for internal affairs Hassan Abdullahi told the media in the provincial capital of Adado that the abductors were intercepted in the city after successful information by the secret services.
“The men confirmed they have snatched the children, but additional investigations are currently under way and we will release full details later on” the Interior Minister told the media on Friday.
He said the children are being kept in a very secure place and will be reunited with their families after investigations have ended.
It was not immediately clear whether the case was connected with terrorism or human trafficking.
Previously authorities in the Puntland state arrested several people including men and women who snatched scores of children from the south western town of Baidoa. The children were later returned to their parents.
