NAIROBI, Kenya – Police in Nyahururu are interrogating a man who has surrendered claiming he has crucial information on Al Qaeda and Al Shabaab operations both within and outside the country.

The man identified as Peter Wang’ondu Kiambati alias Abdalla said he opted to surrender and provide crucial information about the groups having been a member for close to eight years.
“I have been working with these groups but I was forced to join them. The first time I reported this, it was published in newspapers,” he recounted.
He also said that he has documents that show how he was helped by officers of America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) while working for the terror groups.
“I have documents which show how the CIA helps me. I have names and pictures to identify people in the agency who help people join the group (Al Qaeda),” he stated.
Nyandarua North Police Chief Benson Onsongo said the man has volunteered to give information about the training he had received in the country in regard to terrorism and other activities associated with Al Qaeda and other terror groups.
“We cannot confidently say more until we ascertain that he was there and also check whether he is mentally stable. The investigations will continue,” he affirmed.
The police boss noted that the suspect had proof he has widely travelled across the world.
“He has some items which show that he was actually outside the country,” he pointed out.
The man is being held at the Nyahururu Police Station where he is being questioned.
“After I left government offices (when he reported the matter initially), I was kidnapped outside Jamia Mosque and I never knew what happened to me until I found myself outside this country.”
“I was forced to work for them (Al Qaeda) after it was published since my identity was disclosed. The government was not aware that it made a mistake of publishing the news. My security became something I cannot handle on my own.”
Abdalla also narrated how his first wife was killed after he ‘betrayed’ the terror group and claims his second wife and his son are now living in a foreign country.
“This is the pain that has pushed me to come out honestly. I have a lot of information and evidence that will prove what I am saying is true,” he said while pleading for help from the government.
He even claims to know those who fund various terror groups in the country.
“I have been in Somalia but mostly I have been operating in Iraq and Afghanistan,” he revealed.
He disclosed how an aid organisation operating in Kenya collects funds to be used by members of terror groups.
