During a week-long official visit to the UK, the President of the Somali Regional State, Mr. Abdi Mohamed Omar held discussions with more than 700 members of the Ethiopian Diaspora in the UK.

Discussions focused mainly on the on-going political and economic transformation that is taking place in Somalia Region. The Regional President highlighted the major infrastructure developments in the region including the construction of roads, water facilities, irrigation schemes and the provision of wireless telecommunication systems.
He also detailed the efforts being undertaken by the regional state administration in the development of human resources and health care. The Regional President also urged members of the Diaspora from the region to actively participate in the various Development Associations that have been set up, and contribute to the growth and development of the Regional State and to the nation as a whole. He also invited the community to invest in the region as well as to promote and facilitate investments from the UK and from elsewhere in Europe.
