Detectives in the city are reaching out to the Somali community in hopes of tracking down a man wanted on Canada-wide warrants for second degree murder.

Investigators say Hassan Isse Ismail, 30, is wanted in connection with the death of Aden Ahmed, 24. Ahmed was found dead near 113th Avenue and 94th Street suffering from stab wounds.

Police hope that someone in the Somali community, or elsewhere in Edmonton, may know where Ismail is.

Scott Pattison, with EPS, says they are releasing posters in both English and Somali.

"They are going out to about 30 or 40 businesses throughout the East African community, aswell as the broader community in Edmonton. The poster was translated with help by leaders within the Somalia community, which highlights our strong relationship we have with them."

Pattison says the Somalia community played a vital role in solving an earlier homicide and are hoping they can do the same with Ismail.

He's described as a black man, about six foot three inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds.

If you know anything about Ismail's whereabouts or have any other information on this case contact police or CrimeStoppers.
