Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia Mahamat Saleh Annadif officially relocated from Nairobi to Mogadishu on Sunday (February 10th), the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) announced.

Annadif received a delegation from Burundi, mostly members of parliament, visiting the Burundian military contingent serving under AMISOM.

"Somalia is in the process of rebuilding its infrastructure as peace is returning to the country after more than two decades of civil war," Annadif told the delegation. "This is therefore a very important time for you to visit your Somali counterparts to share ideas that can benefit the two countries."

The Burundian delegation will stay in Somalia until Thursday and will meet with representatives of the Somali government, members of parliament and troops from their country's contingent.

"We have been following the actions of our troops in helping the people of Somalia to achieve peace and stability," said Burundian delegation leader Emilien Hakizimana. "We are satisfied with the progress of our troops, especially in getting rid of al-Shabaab terrorists from strategic areas of the country."
