8 killed in clan clashes in Hiran

Clashes between rival clan militias killed eight people in the Kabahanley area of Somalia's Hiran region Thursday morning (December 12th), UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

The violence was prompted by a conflict over grazing lands.

Several people were injured and are receiving treatment at a Beledweyne Hospital, said local elder Shuriye Hussein Hayow.

Hiran Governor Abdi Farah Laqanyo called for an immediate end to the clashes, saying he is concerned over the outbreak of violence in the region.
