Somalia's Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday (August 28th) that the Technical Selection Committee (TSC) did not have sufficient grounds to disqualify some candidates from the new parliament, Somalia's Radio Risaala reported.
Supreme Court Judge Eideed Ilka Hanaf found that the TSC failed to provide sufficient evidence or justification for the candidates' rejections, and ruled that they should be instated as members of parliament.
Transitional Federal Government President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed had requested the court review of the cases of the rejected candidates, a decision that was criticised by former President of Galmudug Mohamed Ahmed Alin, Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa official Mohamad Mohamoud Yussuf, and the Puntland regional government
