Alimoglu told AA on Thursday that they treated 8,435 people and distributed 12,831 boxes of infant food in Hodan and Lofole districs.
They opened two nutrition centres in Hodan and Lofole and they were working on their third centre in Yaqshid district of Banaadir region, he said.
Alimoglu highlighted that they had 18 consultants, 3 chemists and 6 nurses in their Banaadir Hospital in Mogadishu. In November 2011 they took in 3 thousand patients and carried out 65 operations.
They sent 9 doctors, a nurse and a laboratorian to Turkey to receive training to work in Doctors Worldwide Shifa Hospital. Staff were trained on paediatrics, ER, internal diseases and general surgery.
Alimoglu said that since July 2011 they sent 143,135 boxes of medicine worth 800 thousand USD. They also sent out one thousand boxes of dry food which provide a months worth of food to a household. They reached 6 thousand people.
Doctors Worldwide (DWW) is a charity established in the UK in April 2000 to provide medical relief. Doctors Worldwide-Turkey branch was established in Istanbul in 2004.
The opening of the Shifa Hospital was made by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag on March 6.
