Somalia’s Alqaida group the Alshabab is defiant despite months of Ethiopian incursion and says it remains strong in central Somalia.

Alshabab Spokesman Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rage said they have enough power to maneuver around anywhere in the country.

In an interview he gave to an Islamist owned Radio Sheikh Ali Dhere claims to have paid a visit in areas under Kenya and Ethiopian control in south-western regions of Gedo,Bay and Bakool.

“The enemy occupied only few major towns and they are under constant attacks” Ali said in an interview.

“We are ready to launch more attacks on the basis of the enemy and they cannot move on the ground as they want” he added.

According to Alshabab spokesman they still have the upper hand on the ground but such statement contradicts to the latest reports that the media has received from the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.

The Transitional Federal Government says the group has suffered severely on the latest incursion by neighboring countries and TFG forces and is further weakened by internal political row between its moderates and hardliners.
