The Royal Jordanian Air Force plane is laden with ten tons of medical aid and other supplies as the food aid will be distributed to feed 2,000 families for two months, under a campaign funded by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), a number of national institutions, charities and individual donors.
Upon arrival in Mogadishu, the plane was received by Somali Prime Minister Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed who expressed his appreciation of Jordan’s stance toward the Somali people.
He added that the medical aid carried by the Jordanian plane will be distributed to patients who suffer from severe shortage in medicine.
JHCO Secretary General Ahmad Amyan said that the Jordanian delegation will draw up a plan to complete the procedures for providing assistance and collecting donations for the Somali people, noting that the Jordanian people are willing to provide them with more aid and relief.
The Horn of Africa country is currently struggling with one of the worst droughts in the past 60 years, where tens of thousands had died and more than half of the country's people are at risk of starvation.
