The international; community has also been slow in acting to the plight of thousands of internally displaced persons who are continuing to flock the Somali capital Mogadishu after fleeing the deadly drought disaster that has claimed the lives of thousands Somali.
In it's latest humanitarian aid efforts, the Islamic Republic of Iran has successfully shipped another 5000 tone humanitarian aid ship that docked at the Mogadishu seaport on Sunday. Present at the port were senior Somali government officials and the Islamic Republic Red Crescent team who have been assisting thousands in their camps.
Said Mohamadi the Deputy Iranian head in Mogadishu says that the Iranian government and the people of Iran are fully behind the Somali people at this critical and will play an active role in the humanitarian and medical fields that have been seriously affected in the civil war.
The aid was officially received on Sunday by the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.
Present was Somalia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Mohamed Mohamud Hajji among other Somali government ministers who thanked the Islamic Republic for their relentless efforts In assisting the Somali people and for shipping in the massive aid.
Iran is currently managing close to seven IDP camps as well as well equipped medical centers and has initiated several projects within their camps. Schools have also been opened in the Iranian managed camps to reduce the illiteracy level in Somalia.
With countries like Iran, being on the forefront of sending aid shipments to the drought-hit Somalia by over 17 aid cargos, the Muslim countries have intensified their aid to the famine-ravaged Somali people.
