Mpls. Teens Raise Money, Awareness for Famine in Somalia

A race Sunday wasn't about finishing first. It was about ending hunger half a world away.

A group of six Minnesota college students spent their summer organizing Run for Unite to raise money for famine relief in Somalia.

The United Nations says more than 29,000 children under 5-years-old died in just three months in Somalia. The United Nations says this is the driest year in 60 years.

A group of recent Southwest High School graduates couldn't stand to see such suffering. The organized Sunday's 5K and festival on East River Parkway in Minneapolis.

Their goal was to raise $30,000 and awareness. Re money raised goes to the American Refugee Committee.
