Turkey’s prime minister condemned Tuesday a suicide attack that killed at least 70 people and wounded many more in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Tuesday.
“Those who claim that they staged this attack in the name of Islam have nothing to do with Islam, for Islam is not a religion of terrorism,” Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Tuesday. Erdoğan and Somalia President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed agreed on Wednesday to bring 30 Somali people who were injured in the blast to Turkey for treatment. The Turkish Foreign Ministry also condemned the blast. “We severely condemn this heinous attack that targeted innocent children and their families,” the ministry said in a statement. Somalia President declared three days of mourning late Tuesday.
