Mogadishu, Somalia  - (HOL): The Administrator of the district of Bondhere Mr. Abdullahi Hersi Wardhere (aka Istakin) accused forces loyal to the Mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Mohamed Omar Habeb (aka Mohamed Dhere) of attacking his residence and taking and illegally seizing money and a handgun the Administrator used to keep for protection.

“There is only one reason Mohamed Dhere’s forces attacked my residence that is due to the fact that we recently arrested some of his soldiers who were engaging in robbery in the district of Bondhere” said Mr. Wardhere who added that the Mayor’s soldiers manhandled his wife and other relatives who were staying at his home at the time of the attack.

The Administrator of Bondhere Mr. Wardhere added that he will continue his service as the Administrator of the district and that he will submit a complaint regarding the attack to the central government.

When asked if he made contacts with the Mayor since the attack, Mr. Wardhere said that he contacted the Mayor and was given unsatisfactory explanations. “He (the Mayor) told me that the residence was searched because of suspicions that explosives are made in the house and that is the reason for the search”, Mr. Wardhere quoted the Mayor as saying.

The Administrator of Bondhere Mr. Wardhere is the second Administrator of a district in Mogadishu to accuse Mayor Mohamed Dhere. The other Administrator who accused the Mayor is the Administrator of Huriwaa district Mr. Omar Ahmed Abdulle (aka Omar Ja’fan) who said that the Mayor does not treat him as an Administrator of district and sometimes treats him disrespectfully.
