The Somali community in East London has called on the government to protect them against crime which they believe is directed at them. The call comes after two Somali nationals were burned to death in their shop in Sandile Street in Duncan Village in East London at the weekend. Several items were stolen.
Spokesperson Sheik Noor Mohammed says they left their country because of war and came to South Africa thinking that they will be safe. Mohammed says they have done nothing wrong to deserve this treatment.
