Somali police have attacked military soldiers in the Suuq Bacaad Market of north Mogadishu, killing at least two and injuring one.

The soldiers were reportedly looting shops, when the gunfire erupted, a Press TV correspondent reported on Saturday.

The businessmen were forced to close their shops amid fierce clashes in the market.

Somalia has been without a central government since Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991. The interim government backed by Ethiopian troops and the US military oust the Union of Islamic Courts in 2007 but an armed struggle still continues in the country.
