Nairobi (Standard) - Kenya has urged the United Nations to step up its role in finding peace in Somalia.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr Raphael Tuju, said UN's presence on the ground would compliment regional and international efforts to promote peace, stability and reconciliation in Somalia.
The minister said the crisis in Somalia was being overshadowed by the Darfur conflict.
Tuju was speaking at the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday.
"We urge all political actors that hitherto boycotted the talks to embrace the process," Tuju said.
He said Kenya was strengthening partnerships between the African Union and United Nations Department of Peacekeeping operations in the area of political and technical cooperation.
