"The two consultants for CARE International were kidnapped early Wednesday and negotiations are currently underway to secure their release," Beatrice Spadacini, spokeswoman for CARE International's regional office in Nairobi told Xinhua by telephone.
"It is still not clear why the two were kidnapped. We have not also established the motive behind the kidnap but we believe it was a question of misunderstanding," said Spadacini.
"We are working with the local authority and elders to resolve the issue because we believe it is a local issue of misunderstanding. We are confident the issue will be resolved," she said.
Spadacini said the pair, whose names were not released, were assessing a project for the organization in the Horn of African nation which has lacked central rule for more than 16 years.
