A memorial service for Ali Iman Sharmarke and Mahad Ahmed Elmi, the Canadian journalists killed in Mogadishu on Saturday August 11, will be held at Parliament Hill, West Block, Room 308 from 6:00 Pm until 10:00 Pm.
Who will be there: (honoured guests and speakers):
- Dignitaries: Politicians, Diplomats, Media outlets & personalities, Community Members
-Speakers: Politicians, Human Rights and Freedom of speech advocates,
-Guests: Mohamed Elmi, Ahmed Abdisalam and Sahal Abdulle (the Reuters Journalist who was in the car with the slain Ali Sharmarke during the bomb attack)

The Canadian Somali community will be joined by family and friends of Ali Sharmake and Mahdi Elmi as well as by journalists, community leaders, and other prominent Canadians.
CBC reporter Carol Off is one of the keynote speakers representing Canadian Journalists for Free Expression.
