Turkish Red Crescent has sent 5.8 million kilograms of humanitarian aid to famine-stricken Somalia.
The aid organization prepared a report on aid to Somalia, and said
that Turkey had dispatched 11 consignments of aid to Somalia, eight via
airway and three via maritime.
According to the report, Turkey sent 5.8 million kilograms of food, cleaning materials and some other equipment to Somalia.
Turkish Red Crescent's humanitarian aid to Somalia cost around 13.9 million Turkish liras (7.9 million USD).
Moreover, 4 million kilograms of aid has been distributed to 86,141 families in horn of Africa.
Hot meal and fresh bread are distributed to 15,000 people from 2,500 tents in Somali capital of Mogadishu.
Almost 100 million Turkish liras (56.9 million USD) of monetary aid
has been collected in an aid campaign for Africa, initiated by the
Turkish Red Crescent.
