Mogadishu (HOL) - Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi on Wednesday held talks in Mogadishu with Djibouti’s Minister of Defense, Hassan Omar Mohamed, focusing on strengthening bilateral security and defense cooperation.
The Djiboutian defense minister arrived in the Somali capital to participate in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
Minister Fiqi expressed appreciation for Djibouti’s longstanding role in Somalia’s state-building efforts, particularly its contribution to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). He described Djibouti’s involvement as a reflection of sustained support and the strong brotherly ties between the two neighboring countries.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of the Somali National Army, Major General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, the Djiboutian Ambassador to Somalia, Mohamed Ibrahim Yusuf, and senior officials from both delegations.
