Somalian radio journalist Mohamed Yusuf Ninile has been shot dead in the capital Mogadishu.

He was walking to work at the IQK Radio station when he was hit by a stray bullet.

He was taken to Mogadishu’s Medina hospital where he died from his injuries.

Ninile leaves behind a wife and three children. He is the sixth journalist to be killed in Somalia this year.

Somalia is the one of the most dangerous places in the world for journalists to work as the struggle for power between government forces and Islamist groups continues.

A month ago, Mukhtar Mohamed Hirabe, the director of Shabelle Media Network was killed in Mogadishu by armed gunmen on 7 June.

Reporters Without Borders puts Somalia in its 'very serious situation' category.
