As a Somaliland IT consultant, I am writing this letter to express my appreciation for your unwavering supports and professional services that you have been providing to republic of Somaliland, particularly assisting to set up voter registration system. It will surely alleviate mounted pressures and facilitate on election process and also help advancing democratic movement. I also would like to provide my humble advice on the voter registration system and its underlying data.

Value of the data

It’s a crucial to all domestic stakeholders to understand the underlying importance of those collected data, its protections and future practices. Irrespective of political differences between political parties, it must not be underestimated values of collected data.  It is a national resource and its continuation of further developments should continue. It’s first major and historic project that Somaliland committed to undertake and its proper implementation and usage will have a significant impact on developing Somaliland and its underdeveloped projects including socially, politically, and economic developments. For instance, government agencies are able to use strategically collected data for crime prevention and citizen protection including demographic analysis.

Somaliland remains very supportive and appreciative to Inter-peace presence in Somaliland and it will continue its commitment and efforts in creating cooperative and inventive relationships with Inter-peace. As Somaliland is under intense developments on numerous areas, its expectations of getting supports from inter-peace on registration system is monumental. I am hereby kindly requesting you, to continue your supports to Somaliland and strengthen your commitments including:

The further development of the registration system, to engage sincere debugging on reported defective system and set a strategic plan to prevent potential faults including performances of vigorous and regression testing.
Ensuring voter-registration software is genuine, its expectations of output guaranteed and presentation of full documentations. Introducing all relevant information on the software including company name and its license.
Setting up an independent Somaliland IT experts, and their primary tasks are to study and continue developing registration system. This team acts as a go-between, providing training to unscrupulous electoral commission and also work with inter-peace technical contractors. Their independency of auditing must not be interfered by any interested group.

Once again, Republic of Somaliland always welcomes your supports and presentation of flawless and timely system will be highly appreciated.
