Somalia is a failed state known for its anarchy, corruption, lack of government, and starvation. Travelers are warned against entering Somalia, the self-proclaimed “independent Republic of Somaliland” or even sailing near the Horn of Africa. Pirates patrol these waters armed with AK-47s and will seize craft and hold crews to ransom. Inter-clan fighting has claimed thousands of lives in the north of the country, while territorial control in the capital, Mogadishu is carved up between many clans, warlords and TFG.
When we Somali’s gather in coffee shops, meet in wedding; entertain one another in the international news, none of that is true. Why we call our selves Somali’s? What is the purpose of the name? Where are nationalism, greatness, pride, Triumph, success and leadership? All that is ignored in Somalia, the only thing that matters is what tribe you are and the fake stories that have been put in to your mind as if your tribe is greater then all. If we claim to be a great nation and great people then we ought to be concern about the well-being of our nation.
Majority of countries in the world compete to be better off one another where we Somali’s compete to be worsening of one another. Otherwise, it is impossible for a whole nation not to find common grounds to come together and leave peace side by side.
We tell other people that we speak same language, same religion, same culture, same values but we cannot solve our nation’s problem. I believe the right mind knows what is good and what is good is to preserve the history, and respect the nation it self.
I believe it is time to come together in common purpose, and work towards common good!
