Mogadishu (HOL) - U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Richard H.
Riley, accompanied by Deputy Ambassador Justin Davis and Political Director
Matthew Younger, held a meeting in Mogadishu with the Speaker of the House of
the People, Sheikh Aden Madoobe.
The talks focused on strengthening relations between Somalia
and the United States, with particular emphasis on cooperation in politics,
security, and economic development.
During the meeting, Ambassador Riley praised Speaker Madoobe
for his leadership in advancing the work of the House of the People,
particularly in passing key legislation for state-building and consolidating
Somalia’s constitutional institutions.
For his part, Speaker Madoobe expressed gratitude to the
U.S. government for its ongoing support to Somalia, highlighting Washington’s
role in strengthening government institutions, enhancing security, and driving
economic reforms.
Both sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in order
to achieve sustainable development for the benefit of both nations.
