Nairobi (HOL) - At least six people were killed on Saturday
morning following a head-on collision along the Nakuru–Gilgil Highway.
The accident involved a saloon car and a bus at the Soysambu
area in Mbaruk.
The deceased, all men, were travelling in the smaller
vehicle when it collided head-on with a bus near the Soysambu stretch of the
busy highway.
According to police, preliminary investigations indicate
that the driver of the saloon car was attempting to overtake when the vehicle
rammed into an oncoming bus belonging to Promise Company, which was en route to
Nakuru.
The men were reportedly travelling from Kisumu, where they
had attended a burial ceremony, and were heading back to Nairobi at the time of
the accident.
The impact of the collision killed all six occupants of the
saloon car on the spot. Their bodies were taken to the Gilgil Sub-County
Hospital Mortuary awaiting identification by family members.
