Mogadishu (HOL) — Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, killed seven Al-Shabaab militants — including key leaders — during a counter-terrorism operation in Basra, Middle Shabelle region, on Monday night.
According to a statement from the federal government, three other militants were wounded after their hideout was precisely targeted.
Officials said the mission concluded without any civilian casualties, marking another significant success in the country’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
NISA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the nation and preventing any attempts by Al-Shabaab to undermine peace and stability.
The agency also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or threats linked to Al-Shabaab or Islamic State (Daesh) groups.
In recent weeks, the Somali National Army has intensified counter-insurgency operations in Hirshabelle and Galmudug states as part of broader efforts to eliminate militant strongholds.
