Mogadishu (HOL) — The Somali Police Force in Garasbaley
district of Mogadishu have arrested a soldier accused of robbing and injuring a
civilian.
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Hassan Nur Abdi,
allegedly opened fire on the victim while attempting to rob him, according to a
police statement issued Thursday.
Authorities confirmed that the soldier is currently in
custody and will be referred to the competent court to face charges.
The Police Force also urged members of the public to work
closely with security agencies and report any individuals involved in criminal
activity or disturbing the peace in the capital.
The arrest comes as security forces in Mogadishu continue
operations in and around the city aimed at curbing insecurity and protecting
residents.
