Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre on Wenesday officially inaugurated a large-scale electrification project that will provide free electricity to 150 health facilities across the country.

He described the project as part of the government’s broader efforts to expand economic infrastructure and essential services, emphasizing that the electricity is sourced from green and environmentally friendly energy.

“The government has focused on ensuring that people have access to high-quality electricity and education,” Prime Minister Hamsa said, adding that the project will improve the quality of public services and enable citizens to access affordable energy.

He noted that electricity is vital for the development of public services and reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding the initiative to cover all parts of the country.

Officials have described the electrification project as a major achievement, underscoring the Federal Government’s determination to improve people’s lives. The introduction of green energy is also expected to contribute to a more sustainable energy future for Somalia.
