Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre on
Wenesday officially inaugurated a large-scale electrification project that will
provide free electricity to 150 health facilities across the country.
The Prime Minister said Somalis have long needed reliable
electricity services, particularly in health and education facilities. He
described the project as part of the government’s broader efforts to expand
economic infrastructure and essential services, emphasizing that the
electricity is sourced from green and environmentally friendly energy.
“The government has focused on ensuring that people have
access to high-quality electricity and education,” Prime Minister Hamsa said,
adding that the project will improve the quality of public services and enable
citizens to access affordable energy.
He noted that electricity is vital for the development of
public services and reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding the
initiative to cover all parts of the country.
Officials have described the electrification project as a
major achievement, underscoring the Federal Government’s determination to
improve people’s lives. The introduction of green energy is also expected to
contribute to a more sustainable energy future for Somalia.
