Mogadishu (HOL) — The Federal Ministry of Education, Culture
and Higher Learning on Sunday released the results of the 2024-2025 national
Grade 12 examinations, marking a major milestone for the country’s education
sector.
According to the ministry, 37,052 students sat for the
exams, with 34,742 passing and 2,310 failing — a national pass rate of 93.8%.
Education officials hailed the results as a significant achievement for a
nation rebuilding its education system after decades of conflict.
Mogadishu recorded the highest turnout, with 23,674 students
taking the exams. Other notable participation figures include Southwest (5,904
students), Galmudug (3,223), Hirshabelle (2,974), Jubaland (2,097), and Khatumo
(1,520).
The Ministry named Caaisha Aadan Ugaas Xirsi, a student from
SOS School in the Banadir region, as the top performer nationwide with a score
of 91.99%. Officials said the full list of top students will be released soon.
Education Minister Faarah Sheikh Abdulkadir reiterated the
government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and supporting
students as they advance to higher learning. “The success of this year’s exams
reflects Somalia’s collective progress and inspires hope for an educated and
prosperous future,” the ministry said in a statement.
