Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), in coordination with international partners, conducted a planned operation in Nooleye village in the Galguduud region, killing four Al-Shabaab militants.
In a brief statement on Saturday, the army said the operation specifically targeted positions held by the militant group.
The offensive comes amid intensified military operations across Galmudug and Hirshabelle over the past week, despite Al-Shabaab mounting a major assault on El-Dheer district in Galguduud, where both sides reported casualties.
According to the army, the operation in Nooleye forms part of ongoing national and international efforts to eliminate Al-Shabaab and ISIS elements and strengthen security and stability across Somalia.
Al-Shabaab, which has waged an insurgency against the Somali government for more than 16 years, frequently targets security forces, officials, and civilians.
