Mogadishu (HOL) — Puntland’s Intelligence and Security Agency (PISA) on Saturday rejected allegations that it was behind the death of a man found in Hargeisa, dismissing social media claims as false and aimed at inciting unrest.
Authorities in Somaliland earlier reported the discovery of the body of a man identified as Ahmed Addib inside a residence in the capital. The motive for his killing remains unclear.
In a statement, PISA said Puntland security agencies “do not carry out assassinations or premeditated killings” and added that their policies prohibit violating citizens’ rights or interfering in the authority of other Somali administrations. The agency also stressed that Puntland’s security forces work with regional counterparts, including Somaliland, through “partnership and mutual respect” to strengthen stability.
The agency accused those spreading the allegations of deliberately misleading the public.
Puntland officials had previously linked Addib to al-Shabaab and accused him of involvement in militant attacks in Puntland, though no concrete evidence has been presented to confirm those claims. Somaliland officials have yet to issue an official response.
