Baghdad (HOL) – The Somali Police Chief, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, met with his Iraqi counterpart, Lieutenant General Saad Khalaf Badr Al-Halfi, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening security cooperation, police training, knowledge exchange, and counter-terrorism efforts.
The meeting, held in Baghdad, was attended by Somalia’s Ambassador to Iraq, Ridwaan Hirsi Mohamed, along with senior officers from the Somali Police Force. Senior Iraqi police officials also took part in the discussions between the two sides.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by both countries to enhance their security and defense capacities as they continue to recover from years of conflict and instability.
Officials described the new partnership as one aimed at improving the professionalism and effectiveness of both police forces, with future joint training programs and workshops expected to follow.
