Mogadishu (HOL) — Armed men killed two civilians in the Burdheere village of Adale district in Somalia’s Middle Shabelle region early Sunday morning, local residents reported.
The victims were identified as Fanah Moalim Habeeb, an employee of a local telecommunications company, and Muhyadiin Arale, who worked at a water well in the area. The gunmen, believed to be from the same district, reportedly fled the scene after the attack.
Although no official motive has been confirmed, residents suspect the killings are linked to simmering clan-based tensions. Community elders have warned the incident could trigger a wider conflict if left unaddressed.
The latest violence comes just days after a driver was shot and killed by armed militiamen on the outskirts of Adale town, further stoking fears of growing insecurity in the region.
Neither the Adale district administration nor regional or federal security agencies have issued a statement on the incident, despite a recent uptick in targeted killings in the area.
