Mogadishu (HOL) – A member of the Bardale District Council, Abdilwahab Mohamed Daqare was fatally shot near his home in Baidoa on Tuesday night by unidentified gunmen.
According to Baidoa security officials, the perpetrators fled the scene immediately after the attack. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend those responsible, but no arrests have been reported so far.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the killing, similar attacks in the region have often been attributed to the militant group Al-Shabaab. The extremist organization has a history of targeting public officials and other prominent figures in its campaign against the Somali government.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
