Mogadishu (HOL) – Somalia’s National Intelligence and
Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, has
carried out operations in Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle, and Galgaduud regions over
the past three days, killing at least 11 al-Shabaab members and destroying
vehicles and military equipment.
In a statement issued Saturday, NISA said its forces struck
a house in Tardo, Hiiraan region, where senior al-Shabaab figures were holding
a meeting. Seven militants were killed, and the compound was destroyed,
according to the agency.
In the Daarunimca area of Middle Shabelle, NISA said its
forces foiled a planned attack on Civil Defense Forces, killing four militants,
including Abdullahi Ganeey, a veteran al-Shabaab leader who has led operations
since 2009.
Separately, in Nooleeye, Galgaduud region, security forces
destroyed a vehicle transporting military equipment intended for attacks in
El-Dher district. The strike destroyed the vehicle and its cargo, NISA said.
The agency added that operations against al-Shabaab will
continue in cooperation with international partners to “ensure internal
security and stability” across Somalia.
