FILE - Missing Wajir MCA Yusuf Hussein Ahmed, last seen on September 13 before being abducted in Nairobi. DNA tests recently confirmed that a body found in Lake Yahud is not his, leaving the search for the lawmaker ongoing.

NAIROBI, Kenya (HOL) — DNA tests have revealed that the mutilated body found in Lake Yahud, initially believed to belong to the missing Wajir MCA Yusuf Hussein Ahmed, is not his. The announcement has left his family and the public with unanswered questions as the search for the lawmaker continues more than a month after his disappearance.

Two DNA tests, conducted separately on samples from Ahmed's mother and brothers, confirmed that the body belongs to a man of Somali origin but not to the missing MCA. A postmortem revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the face, which caused fatal internal bleeding, adding to the unanswered questions about the man's identity.

The body, found mutilated with its ears and nose severed, was discovered in Lake Yahud over a month after Ahmed's family had made public appeals for help in finding him. The severity of the injuries initially led the family to believe it was Ahmed, though DNA results later ruled that out.

Ahmed's disappearance has left his family in turmoil. He was last seen on September 13 in Nairobi's South C area, where he was forcibly taken by armed men. A taxi driver who was with him at the time told police that two SUVs blocked their vehicle before five men emerged, one of whom held him at gunpoint while the others dragged Ahmed from the car.

Despite a court order demanding that Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja locate and produce Ahmed, there has been little progress in the investigation, leaving his family increasingly frustrated and still searching for answers.
