Kismayo (HOL) - Three humanitarian workers were injured in an incident involving two boats carrying humanitarian workers, their crew, and security personnel in Raaskaambooni on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Jubbaland State reported that the injured workers were from the World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) but did not specify the cause of the accident, and the nationals of the victims.
“The affected staff were on a humanitarian field mission in Badhaadhe district and surrounding islands, returning from Raaskaambooni when the unfortunate incident occurred. Initial reports indicate two serious injuries and one mild injury. Some of the injured have been evacuated to Mogadishu for medical treatment,” the statement said.
The ministry extended its heartfelt wishes for their swift recovery.
The World Food Program (WFP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) did not comment the incident, in which three of their staff members wounded.
