    Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers conduct a patrol near Beerayabaal in the Hiiraan region during an operation against Al-Shabaab fighters on Saturday afternoon.

    Beledweyne (HOL) — At least 10 Al-Shabaab members were killed Saturday afternoon in a fierce battle near Beerayabaal village in Hiiraan's Buuloburde district, according to a brief statement from the Somali government. The clash involved government forces and local militia against Al-Shabaab fighters.

    The firefight erupted after the combined forces launched a strong attack on a hideout used by Al-Shabaab members, leading to an intense confrontation that lasted nearly an hour.

    Senior officers of the coalition forces informed national media that the Al-Shabaab members had crossed the Shabelle River and were being tracked after local residents shared information about their movements.

    The clash near Beerayabaal is part of ongoing operations by government forces and local militias against Al-Shabaab in areas under Buulaburte district's jurisdiction, particularly along the Shabelle River.
