Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali police have arrested Ashraf Ali Nur, 24, accusing him of spreading immoral content on social media, particularly on TikTok. The General Command of the Banadir Regional Police presented Nur to the media, stating he would be brought before a court.

A statement from the Somali Police emphasized their commitment to curbing actions that harm Islamic values and Somali cultural norms. "The Somali Police Force is dedicated to preventing any behaviour that undermines our noble Islamic religion and the good culture of the Somali people," the statement read.

Nur's recent posts have sparked widespread controversy among Somali social media users. His videos have been deemed inappropriate by many in the conservative society.

In recent months, the Somali police have been leading intensified efforts to crack down on individuals disseminating content perceived as immoral online, which reflects a broader campaign to uphold societal values and maintain public morality.
