Galkacyo (HOL) - Gunmen killed five people from the same family and wounded six others in a suspected clan revenge attack in Saaho village, located west of the Mudug region on Saturday night.
The mayor of the Mudug region of the Puntland administration, Faysal Sheikh Ali, reported that children and women were among those killed and wounded in the tribal revenge-linked attack.
"The people who were killed there were 11 people in the same house, 5 of them died – a man and his wife, his sister, his nephew, and another nephew. The other six are injured," explained Faisal Sheikh Ali.
He extended his condolences to all the families and relatives of the victims.
However, this family attack occurred days after four young men were killed in a revenge-related incident in Faragoy village, located 20 km from Dhusamareeb, the administrative capital of the Galmudug regional state in Somalia.
Over the last few months, revenge-related incidents have been reported in the regions of Galgaduud and Mudug, as stated by people from central Somalia.
