Garowe (HOL) - Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, President of the South West Administration, has strongly endorsed the parliamentary initiative to amend Somalia's Constitution. Speaking at the inauguration of Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni in Garowe on Thursday, Laftagareen praised both legislative houses for their unanimous decision to move forward with constitutional amendments.
During his address, Laftagareen praised the unanimous decision of both legislative houses to progress with constitutional amendments. He emphasized the Constitution's evolution to its current inclusive form and commended the consultative role of the Federal Government's President in these matters.
"President Hassan Sheikh's contribution to the Constitution's development is commendable. The Somali people's commitment to unity and collaboration in this process is praiseworthy," Laftagareen stated.
Despite a fraught working relationship with the Puntland administration led by Deni, Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the inauguration ceremony, signalling a moment of political solidarity in a region often marred by divisiveness.
Laftagareen called for action and an end to the constitutional debates that have continued in some form for the past 30 years. He urged politicians and stakeholders opposing the amendments to participate and present their concerns.
