Nairobi (HOL) -  Kenyan security forces recently apprehended three suspects in connection with the shooting and robbery of Somali businessman Aden Ali Mohamed in the Eastleigh neighbourhood. However, two of the suspects' bodies have since been discovered in separate locations in Kenya—one in Kiambu County and the other in Juja, as reported by NTV, a Kenyan media outlet. The Kenyan police have not yet commented on the deaths of these suspects.

The attack occurred last Tuesday as Mohamed, riding his motorcycle, was ambushed and robbed of $31,000 by gunmen also on a motorcycle. Omar Hussein, secretary-general of the Eastleigh Chamber of Commerce, stated that Mohamed was en route to deposit the funds at a bank within BBS Mall, a shopping center popular among the Somali community.

Dr. Khalif Abdifitah Mohamed, who treated the businessman, said that Mohamed is recovering from his injuries. The bullets damaged his right shoulder and spine, causing paralysis. Despite his severe injuries, Mohamed's condition is improving, and he is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.

This latest robbery has heightened concerns over crimes involving motorcyclists, a longstanding issue in the neighbourhood.

The neighbourhood, a bustling shopping hub, is celebrating Eid. The local traders' committee has requested additional security forces to ensure safety during this period.

The recent opening of a large shopping mall in the district, from which Mohamed had just exited before being attacked, has drawn attention. Notably, the site of the shooting is only about 200 meters from the local police station at BBS Mall.
