Garowe (HOL) - At least two people, including a senior anti-al Shabab commander, were killed and several others wounded in a landmine explosion in the Sanag region on Sunday.Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the explosion in a statement posted on its website.
According to reports, Abdirashid Ali Hiiray (Abeesa Dhuuni) and other soldiers from Bosaso town were ambushed near the village of Elayo, 30 kilometers from the coastal town of Bosaso.
The group also claimed to have taken over the small village of Durfuri, which is located within the village of Elayo.
Puntland regional administration did not comment on the casualty of the attack and the group's claim to capturing the village.
